Through different studies, qualitative (WP3, WP5, WP6, WP8), quantitative (WP4, WP7), and an active citizenship intervention in schools (WP9) - see our web site here for a full description of each work package - the project will provide a multifaceted understanding of the different factors influencing the perspectives of young people on Europe and of the ways in which young people engage in society, how they approach public authorities and how they engage materially and symbolically in order to participate in the construction of the societies in which they live. Our approach is multidisciplinary and iterative, as our Pert shows clearly: we start with the theoretical workpackage, inform it with the empirical ones that deal with how Europe is socially constructed in young people’s experience; then we examine youth experiences with different approaches (longitudinal - quantitative, ethnographic - qualitative and participatory- mixed methods) and finally redesign the theory integrating the contributions of the different pieces of research.
